Letter of Intent

Dear Selection Committee,

I’m very excited for the opportunity to serve as the Scout Executive of the Susquehanna Council.  I know that the variety of professional positions I have enjoyed serving in successfully, have provided the foundation for me to be effective in growing Scouting in the council, both in membership and profile.

In my current role, I provide leadership to a successful team that includes the Director of Camping, a Program Director, a program support staff, customer service staff in three offices, 5 camp rangers, 4 camp caretakers and indirectly over 250 seasonal employees.  I advise three council committees including a recently formed facility strategic planning committee and know the importance of working in partnership with great volunteers.

I am very comfortable managing large budgets.  I’m responsible for camping budgets of more than $2,000,000 and have worked with my team to grow the net revenue from camping operations by more than $400,000 over the last eight years.  In addition to operating income, I have secured over $3,000,000 in capital funding from a variety of sources including individuals, foundations and natural resources most notably a $1,400,000 family gift in 2015 for facility expansion at a camp conference center.

The most important asset I will bring to the Susquehanna Council is my passionate belief in the Boy Scout program and in the positive way it changes lives.
